Pilgrimage | Manager's Message

Dear Enquirer,

Welcome to the Pilgrimage website for this year's epic walk to Canterbury.
We shall be Launched from the steps of St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church at 10.30am on Friday 28th May 2010.

If you plan to join us you'll need to Register (In the Portico) from 9am till 10.15am. Coffee will be served to registered Pilgrims in the Cafe in the Crypt which can be accessed from the 'Tardis' in the Churchyard (Believe me it may be a modest glass dome outside but inside and down below it opens up into a quite magical dimension!) meanwhile your luggage may be stored in our Luggage van alongside the church.
As ever we seek sponsorship to fund the care of homeless people at St. Martin's and tithe the money raised to support partner activities in London and Kent.

The pilgrimage is an adventure on many levels; for most it is a physical test either by foot or in support providing healthcare, catering, marshalling and social activities. For many it is a spiritual journey, for others a chance to recreate a major part of the classic Pilgrims Way made famous by Geoffrey Chaucer, for others it is a unique weekend in which we live as a community of very different folk on the move and with a goal.

This year the journey back to Central London will be facilitated by two coaches rather than by train, we should reach Charing Cross at about 9.45pm-10.15pm.
If you are interested in a journey to remember for ever........fill in the form on this site and get it back to us by the end of March to qualify for the 'Earlybird' discount.......failing that the Closing Date for Registration  is Friday 7th. May.

I hope to meet to meet you on the Pilgrim's Way and as St. Augustine put it 'Solvitur Ambulando' (It is solved by walking).......a lot of things are!

Roger Shaljean, Pilgrimage Manager
